Franz Liszt was an amazing performer at the piano, both in technique and in showmanship. He would often appear onstage wearing a cape and gloves, so that he could dramatically throw them off with a flourish. After a greatly succesful tour in Russia and Europe in 1842, Liszt abandoned his performing career and devoted himself to composing. This Liebstraum (translated as "love-dream"), completed in 1850, is a transcription of a song which Liszt composed in 1845. This version has been skillfully arranged for easy piano by Willard A. Palmer.
